High Deductible Health Plans vs. PPOs: A Guide to Health Insurance

The University of Pittsburgh Master of Pharmacy Business Administration (MPBA) congratulates Ryan Stept, MPBA Class of 2020, for his Pharmacy Times publication titled, “ High Deductible Health Plans vs. PPOs: A Guide to Health Insurance .”

Mark Thomas, PharmD, M Ryan earned his Masters of Science in Healthcare Administration from Saint Joseph’s University and is currently enrolled in the Masters of Pharmacy Business Administration program at the University of Pittsburgh. The program is a 12 month executive-style, graduate education program where healthcare professionals obtain an in-depth understanding of the business of medicines. Currently, Ryan works for the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy, Program Evaluation and Research Unit as a research specialist. Ryan’s research is primarily focused on the opioid epidemic and provides technical assistance to stakeholders across the commonwealth in their mutual efforts to reduce opioid death rates in Pennsylvania. SPBA, earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and is a recent graduate of the Master of Science in Pharmacy Business Administration program at the University of Pittsburgh, a 12-month, executive-style graduate education program designed for working professionals striving to be tomorrow’s leaders in the business of medicines. He spent the past 4 years as a clinical pharmacist in a specialty pharmacy working on high profile initiatives to expand his organization’s national footprint, as well as directly coordinating with patients, prescribers and other health care providers to educate and promote the utilization and uptick of generic specialty medication. In his current role as a clinical advisor in the managed care setting, he works directly with clients to help manage and develop strategies that promote optimal health outcomes in the most cost-effective manner.
